The Election Commission has recently again indicated that vacant election-related posts be filled up immediately. They have also called for a status report. I had also mentioned about staff recruitment in an earlier blog.
DEO/DMs may please review progress in recruitment.
Just for information, Public Service Commission has notified an advt for Assistant System Managers (66) in Anandabazar dt 21.6.2008. The last date of application is possibly 22.7.2008.

Sir,
[I may be excused for this lengthy query]
A few queries relating to SRER-08, 2nd phase :-
1) Schedule of dates only mentioned & not time of stay of DO’s at the booths. It may not be possible to provide Govt. employee in all booths due to inadequacy; so even if all BLOs (most of them Govt. employees) are appointed as DOs there will remain a shortfall.
Now in view of the solemn order of the Apex Court prohibiting engagement of teachers during teaching hours & in conformity with the direction of the ECI vide their No. 23/2007/ERS dtd. 28/01/08, it has become imperative to set out a specific timeline for such teachers deployed. But, if different time schedules are prescribed by the EROs for different booths depending on the category (Govt. employee/teachers), it will be very difficult to disseminate that information to the electors & political parties & it may lead to utter confusion at all levels.
Is it possible to set out a uniform time schedule for the entire District by the DEO, or if possible for the entire State from your end? Can it be fixed from 7-11 a.m, instead of after teaching hours as alluded to in the aforesaid order of the ECI? This is in consideration of the fact that means of communication (buses/trekkers etc.) are not available in many remote areas at late hours.
2) As it is not explicitly mentioned, we are given to understand, that there is no special campaign dates; i.e. on 3/8/08 (Sunday-N.I. Act holiday), DOs are not reqd. to sit. Is it so?
3) It is also not mentioned whether DOs are reqd. to sit in the booths as Custodian or not. And, if yes, then for how many days?
4) In other SRERs, mother roll is supplied to all political parties at the time of draft publication & only supplements are given at final publication. But, this time it is likely that in few cases the composition of the mother roll will undergo some changes due to error in correlation/ conversion exercise. So what will be supplied to pol. parties in this SRER after final publication?
a) only supplements?
b) both mother roll & supplement of all parts?
c) supplement of all parts & mother roll of only those parts as will undergo changes?
{It is better if replies to these queries may be given in the form of a directive from your end.}
OC ELECTION,
BANKURA.
Bankura:
- Reg. first blog entry: Noted, thanks
-Reg. second blog entry:
1. We've already indicated in our GO that usual terms and conditions will apply. That is, if during last Summary Revision, DOs stayed in DLs during normal office hours, same will be followed this time too.
2. No special campaign required this time.
3. Like last time, custodians will be required to sit for a week after FP.
4. Only supplements, like always.
In case you wish to have a formal response, DEO may make a formal reference to us.
