Newspaper advertisements made today (1.2.2008)

Please see our ads on Anandabazar, Pratidin, Bartamaan, Telegraph etc for a box advt on EPIC Programme between 1-10 Feb 2008.

I and other officers from our office will start visiting the districts from today during this period. I'll be visiting Purulia, Paschim Midnapore and Dakshin Dinajpur.

I'd advise all election managers to tour and visit photography locations to see that the EPIC programme goes as planned.

Sir,

Clarification is souught as to whether there is a provision of submission of a checklist of the Photograohs taken along with entries by WTl on completion of the photo taking programme.

The same would facilitate the distribution of error-free cards and avoid undue harrassement to the voters

Yours faithfully,

Sir,
the proposal of Darjeeling re: checkslip for images taken/ scanned by WTL may pl be considered to avoid usual errors & anomalies. [In fact, a similar direction was issued during the preparation of photo roll.]

Good suggestion,Dj. As also supported by Malda, I agree with the suggstion and will advise WTL accordingly.

(PS: For Malda & Dakshin Dinajpur: I was suddenly asked by Commission to attend another meeting at Delhi and so have had to cancel my trip to Malda/DD. My regrets]

Sir,
The electors who had applied for corrections during SSRER - 2008 but not applied suo-motu for generation of new & corrected EPIC through Form 001C while applying for corrections in entries vide Form 8 during the said process, do require New & Corrected EPIC for SURE. When some of them are approaching us for corrected EPIC, we are accepting their requisition through Form 001C but in other cases it is not possible to inform every one, so left out, to come and apply for the corrected EPIC. My question is WHETHER WE COULD SUO-MOTU GENERATE THE SAID CORRECTED EPIC WITHOUT TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THEIR APPLICATION IN FORM 001C IN THIS RESPECT, LEST THE REMAINING SUCH PERSONS WOULD DEFINITELY COME TO US IN FUTURE AND ASK FOR NEW & CORRECTED EPIC, WHICH WE MAY NOT REFUSE TO ENTERTAIN AT THAT POINT OF TIME.
With respect,

Bidhannagar:
The basic thesis in EPICs is : "Once-in-a-lifetime-free-EPIC-to-each-elector".

Thus, changes on account of shifting, i.e. address-change or (fancy) spelling preferences do not cast any onus on us to provide free replacements, even though this may necessiate roll entry corrections. In shifting cases, old EPIC no. will be reflected in rolls.

We may, however, allow new EPICs on payment of Rs 25. So, new EPICs on account of corrections are to be given only on specific application and payment of charges.

Sir,
do we collect charges (Rs 25/-)for correction of EPICs also? (like duplicate EPIC)

As I said, Malda, yes (ie we collect Rs 25) for all EPIC corrections also. Provided that if the reason for seeking the correction is ours (eg photo mismatch), no fee is payable.
